A Summer Wedding!!

What to wear to a summer wedding?! Those are the type of questions that we like / love at MRMJDSTYLE!

Especially in 2026 when the menswear rule book can be ripped up to an extent.

I had the chance recently to put theory into practice.

First big decision. Separates, not the full suit. I paired a lightweight wool, light grey suit jacket with lightweight wool, pleated trousers in just a slightly darker shade of grey. The trousers also featured an elasticated waist with a hidden drawstring. Because, comfort is very important and you might be busting some grooves on the dance floor later on.

Second big choice, no shirt. Instead I went with a dark blue, long sleeve polo shirt. No tie needed. Again, smart, yet comfortable.

Final big choice, a pair of lightweight suede driving shoes in a matching blue hue, instead of anything smarter like lace up Oxtords or monk straps.

I also took a pair of smart sneakers to wear later in the day whilst busting said groove on the dance floor. I was actually the only person to get a shout out from the band, apart from the bride and groom. To be fair, it's because I politely asked them during the interval to play no more ABBA, so, guess what was played first song back, ah haaa...

Accessories were kept to a minimum, with a dark navy pocket square (to complement the polo shirt and stand out against the grey) and a pair of photochromic glasses (which darken in sunlight), so that I didn't have to also carry sunglasses.
